Google has launched Google Latitude, a location sharing service that allows mobile users to keep others up-to-date about their whereabouts on integrated Google Maps. Google Latitude also provides quick access to SMS, instant messaging and phone calls once a user is spotted on the service. Users are able to decide how much information they want to share. Google Latitude is now available on BlackBerry, Symbian, Windows Mobile devices and soon on T-Mobile's G1 that is powered by Google's Android OS.

  7. Nokia has closed its flagship retail store in Shanghai on 31 Mar. With the closure, all after-sale services will be taken over by another smaller Nokia store in Shanghai.

  8. Florian Seiche has left his job as head of HTC's European, Africa and Middle-East division and will be joining Nokia to lead its European handset sales in June. Phil Blair, HTC's regional Vice President of Product and Operations, will be taking over the vacated post.

  12. M1 had launched Singapore's 1st LTE based 4G prepaid broadband service with a theoretical download speeds of up to 75Mbps. The M1 4G Prepaid Data is available at S$18 and comes with 1GB of local data, valid for 30 days' usage or upon completion of data bundle. Customers can top up any time using M1 top-up card or a credit card.

  14. Apple had acquired WifiSLAM in a deal believed to be around US$20M. WifiSLAM relies on mapping indoor Wi-Fi networks to locate the position of the user and it claims to be able to achieve real-time to 2.5m accuracy using only ambient WiFi signals that are already present in buildings.
